[how to: radiant orchid]

Farewell Emerald! Pantone Colour of the Year for 2014 is Radiant Orchid.  This sweet blend of pink and purple is eye-catching, feminine and joyful.
These orchid tones make quite the statement, so to introduce this colour into your home, subtly add it through the use of accessories.  Pair cushions, throws or vases with neutral tones.  If you're not ready commit to orchid soft furnishings, trial with fresh blooms (the only time when the short lifespan of flowers could be considered a positive).
(Alternatively, you could simply make mini blueberry cheesecakes and wait until 2015)

[a new look for the humble garage door]

If you're like me, you have a little folder on your desktop (or a board on Pinterest) entitled "Dream Home" filled with beautifully styled bedrooms and amazing bathroom finishes.
Well in my little folder, I've noticed I've collected quite a few examples of glass panelled sectional doors that have made their way from the humble garage into people's living rooms and bedrooms.
It has the ability to give any space an industrial edge and is such a practical solution to integrate indoor and outdoor living.

Do we like?
I would love to know if you have this in your home or if like me, it's in your "Dream Home" folder.

[romantic interiors]

Valentine's day is here again. Regardless of whether you're currently flying solo or all loved up, everyone needs a little Home Love in their life.
These darling interiors are sweet, comforting and make you want to sigh just a little.
Think soft colour palettes with fresh whites and hints of pastels, beautiful chandeliers and venetian mirrors, teeny splashes of gold, silver, copper and effortless layering of textiles adding a touch of whimsy.
So without further ado, here are my favourite romantic interiors (minus the bombardment of cupids and of love-hearts).

[ombre interiors]

Ombre has grown in popularity over the last couple of years and is set to continue trending in 2014.  The soft gradation of colour seen in dip-dyed curtains, wallpaper and wall finishes can add an unexpected element of fun, vibrancy and depth to a space.
Here are some fantastic examples of just how versatile this trend can be.

If you're not quite ready to cover your stairs in this current trend, here's a few little ideas to subtly introduce ombre to your home with less permanency and on a budget.
Sort your books into colours, ordering them according to their tonal value.

Paint a little timber stool or chair in gradated colour.
There's a fantastic tutorial on how to create this at home over here.
Accessorise! This lovely rug from West Elm is a more muted interpretation of the ombre trend.
