[a pot of tea under a tree]

A Pot of Tea Under a Tree is a fashion concept developed by my good friend Louise Falzon.  She holds clothing exchange events here in Brisbane twice yearly (which supports the charity Project Futures), runs sustainable fashion workshops and now has online shop!
Her fashion label is, what she describes as bespoke, innovative and sustainable and each item is made to order using only the finest, eco luxe fabrics available.
Want more?
Find it here!
And if you're like me and have a wardrobe full of clothes that are no longer in your usual rotation, why not come meet Louise at the next Under a Tree Clothing Exchange in April and have a swapsie!
Last time I picked up this cute number.
Happy Thursday!

[pink ribbon breakfast - the art auction]

After we all gorged on the delicious goodies and had ourselves a couple of champas and guava, the art auction for breast cancer began.  Everyone was to bring along an original piece of creativitiy to auction off to one another...
Sarah's colourful typography "Auf Deutsch" that I purchased.
Tiffany's beautifully painted cup, entitled "cup" which I also bought.
(Straight to the pool room... or Dan's Christmas stocking!)

The two pieces that Al won:
Katie Green's "Owls in Flight"...

...as well as my "Flying Wall Ducks"

My other water colour that Amber purchased.

<  Becky's piece - a lovely Buddhist quote that Amber also fancied.
Becky with her purchase - "Love"- a mixed medium by Lozzy  >

Louise (from A Pot of Tea Under a Tree) painted a suitably fashionable piece that Tiffany won.
Another by Louise, that Cass won        and Al's painting which Louise won.

Amber's origami lily that Miss A had her eye on

Cass' "Hooters" painting that Sabina bought...
...and Sabina's "Icecream" bra and coffee cup that Katie Green bought.

Between us we raised $474.35. Not bad for a casual Saturday brunch.
Thanks for the "support" girls!

[pink ribbon breakfast - the food]

This morning I held my Pink Ribbon Brekky to raise a little money for Breast Cancer.  This year we all brought a plate to share.
The menu included:
Pikelets with blueberries and cream
Teacup biscuits (The little ones' eyes lit up when they spotted these!)
Fresh cherries and strawberries
Scones with jam and cream
Pink ribbon shaped bikkies
Pink cupcakes
Warm croissants
Caramel ginger snap tarts
Savoury muffins (from the renowned Hummingbird Bakery cookbook)
Apricot slice (family fave)
and my banana bread (recipe to follow - it's brilliant!)

Not to mention a few glasses of sparkling and guava nectar (delicious and pink!)

This morning I ducked down to the little florist around the corner to buy whatever pink flowers they had.  She had these lovely peonies left over from a wedding order for today!
Sigh... my favourite!
Lozzy's little one's dressed up for the day and helped us consume the ridiculous amount of food.
Miss A just learnt the joys of listening for the ocean in a shell.

After eating ourselves silly
we had our art auction.

to be continued.....

[pink ribbon brekky]

It's creeping up! October is Breast Cancer Month and there's no better way to raise money for such a wonderful cause than to get together with you're closest girls for a pink ribbon brekky!  I'll be a busy bee over the next few weeks organising my little gathering!
I thought I'd share some shots of mine from the event I hosted in 2009.  The website has a myriad of ideas to raise money at your event.  After much deliberation I decided to encourage my friends to put their crafty-caps on and create an art piece to auction off to each other.

Firstly there was the business of champagne with guava nectar, ham and leek mini quichesblueberry yoghurt muffins and of course the pink cupcakes.

This was my little piece that my lovely friend Al bought...

...and I won the bid for Al's creation of words to inspire (creatively directed by her now fiancé Chris of course).

Adie-pants' piece was perfectly suited to the cause:  Dayna's lucky buy for the day.

...and me and my gorgeous sister.

Looking forward to the next one!  Make sure to stop off at the Pink Ribbon Breakfast website for more information on hosting your own.  Wonderful way to start the day for even more wonderful cause! Jx

[rspca cupcake day]

So Monday was RSPCA cupcake day.  I found out about it far to late to properly register and fundraise so instead I simply made a donation (and the requisite cupcakes).
I baked them yesterday as it was Brizzy show holiday. Also, on Monday I was still recovering from my overindulgent (and very delicious thank you Al) night before, so my sweet tooth was due for a rest day.
I vote my oven the most unreliable there is.
If you google the brand name, the first sites to pop up are forums of ramblings as to why the oven is so crap - not a good sign.
My little catering wiz of a cousin Tash was very sad to learn this.  Yesterday, however, my oven took it's prozac and my little (betty crocker) vanilla cupcakes turned out a treat so...
I hereby dedicate this batch of cupcakes to Tash.
I added a 1/4 cup of lemon curd to the batter and same to the icing which eased my packet-mix-guilt a little.

Happy Thursday! Jx

P.S. there's still time to donate here!

[under a tree clothing exchange]

Had a fabulous afternoon at the Under a Tree Clothing Exchange yesterday with my friend lozzy (of Bodily Romp PT ;) I spent the morning sifting through my wardrobe (currently a corner in my lounge room), chose my swaps and ironed like a madwoman.

The Laura Ashley dress I picked up (which I had previously scouted on Miss Louise's blog).
Loved the colourful pattern and a perfect fit - Yay!

The exchange is held quarterly and supports Project Futures, a charity raising awareness and funding to combat human trafficking. I'll be definitely attending the next!
