[my midweek bircher brekky]

I've tried oh so hard to be as organised as can be this week.
With guests popping in and out over the next couple of days, we both cleaned the unit from top to bottom last Sunday and I've tried my darndest not to mess it up - there, it's in writing, I'm the messy one.  Most of it I could put down to my wardrobe indecisiveness and my love of cooking dishes with unnecessary amounts of different ingredients - it makes me feel gourmet without having any genuine skills!
I wrote the weekly menu, made lunches the night before and I even preprepared tonight's dinner after yesterday's dinner.
Oh and I made this....
Fig Bircher Muesli

Find it here.

[vintage trunk find the third]

...and then there were three!  My vintage trunk family is complete with baby (who's even a little chubbier than the others)!
This is the little goodie I purchased yesterday at the antique centre.  Like father like son, I also purchased the first of my collection at the same place.  The second trunk however I picked up on our trip to Noosa last year.
He's a little rusty here and there and has a few loose stitches but I think his lovely blue colour allows you to look beyond these imperfections!
This is what I also bought... a selection of old knitting needles for my newly rekindled skill!
...and finally a drawer handle for when I get around to refurbishing the bedside table in the guest room.  I was immediately attracted to the watermelony/corally colour of the glass.
Just another project added to my never-ending list!
Hope you're all having a lovely weekend!

[wedding cake planning]

On this dreary old Saturday here in Brizzy, I met with our wedding cake consultant/artist/baking extraordinaire for our first planning sesh and the requisite coffee and muffin at the little cafe inside the Woolloongabba Antique Centre.
Have you been yet?!  If the answer's no, it's time to take a trip!  It's a thrifter's dream!
I found a few little items that I can't wait to show you... for another time when my photos of said items won't be drenched in grey.

I'm pretty sure I've decided on a simple round tiered cake...
...maybe some ribbon
...maybe fresh flowers
...maybe a cute-as-pie cake topper
...and flavour undecided.
Ok so there's still some decisions to be made.
This is going to need some taste-testing!

[my happening saturday night]

As I mentioned here, we took a little trip up the coast over the weekend.
This is what I did, at the beach, on a Saturday night...
I can remember my nan taught me how to knit when I was a young, slightly gangly little girl in Albury.  What I didn't remember was how to actually knit.
So my step mum, on a muggy summer's night at the beach, taught me once again.
Just like riding a bike really.
By the morning I felt pretty confident... just as long as I didn't drop a stitch... then I'm stuffed.
I'm itching to go op-shopping now and begin an impressive knitting needle collection.
Hopefully one that looks like this...

[one delicious chair]

Lovely furniture makes my heart flutter.
Like this beautifully restored piece by Judy from Verandah House Interiors.
The bold floral print is perfection and I adore the contrasting blue and white stripes on the arms.
I can completely understand why she found it difficult to part with it when presenting it back to the client.
I found a beautiful bentwood rocking chair a Vinnies not that long ago that needs this very look.
I'll be sure to post pics of her "before" shoot soon.
Happy hump day everyone! Jx

[sweet bouquets]

Last week I began researching florists and gathering some digital inspiration.
I'm quickly realising that there are bridal bouquets and there are bridal bouquets!
I've been pouring over the real wedding posts on style me pretty.  It's too beautiful and too addictive.
I'm loving the unconventional mixes with things like berries, brooches and feathers with a little bit of chaos.
I think that fits me - food, vintage and mess. Jx

[pears]

Happy happy friday!
After posting a pic of one of my little pears yesterday, I thought I might take this oportunity to show you the rest...
This one's my favourite - don't tell the others!
Crocheted doilies - sigh! So very versatile!
Have an amazing weekend everyone!
